The highly anticipated Super Falcons derby saw Echegini steal the spotlight, while Onumonu struggled to make an impact as PSG cruised to victory, Footballrover reports.

Jennifer Echegini shines with goal and assist in PSG’s statement win

Fresh off her goal in PSG’s 4-0 Coupe de France Féminine quarterfinal win over Le Mans FC, Jennifer Echegini once again displayed her brilliance.

The Nigerian midfielder played a key role, scoring PSG’s second goal and assisting the third in their emphatic win at the Training Centre Terrain 5.

The match kicked off with PSG asserting dominance early. Grace Geyoro broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, setting the tone for the evening.

Just 12 minutes later, Echegini doubled the lead, finishing a well-worked move before halftime.

After the break, PSG continued to press forward. Sakina Karchaoui extended the advantage in the 65th minute, courtesy of a perfectly placed assist from Echegini.

Shortly after, the midfield maestro was substituted, making way for Mbock Bathy.

Ifeoma Onumonu, who had a quiet game for Montpellier, was also withdrawn at the same time.

PSG strengthens grip on third place as Echegini’s impact grows

Montpellier managed a late consolation goal through Nina Soufiya Ngueleu, but it did little to change the outcome as Romée Leuchter had already sealed the deal for PSG with a penalty three minutes from full-time.

Since joining PSG from Juventus in July, Echegini has continued to impress. She has now scored four goals in nine league appearances while adding two more in the cup competition.

The 23-year-old Nigerian international has also registered four assists, taking her total goal contributions to ten this season.

The victory marks PSG’s second consecutive league win following their defeat to table-toppers Lyon.

With 35 points, they maintain third place on the table, just one point behind Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Paris FC.

Next up, Jennifer Echegini and PSG will turn their attention to their upcoming clash against Dijon Foot on Saturday.
