Super Falcons star Jennifer Echegini put on an impressive performance to lead Paris Saint-Germain to a hard-earned draw in their opening fixture of the Division 1 Féminine against Lens women on Saturday evening.
The French Division 1 Féminine began with the Nigerian international showing off her playmaking skills.
Jennifer Echegini Sets the Tone for Paris Saint-Germain
Echegini provided the opening goal of the encounter as Paris Saint-Germain kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
The 24-year-old midfielder didn’t just provide the first goal of their 2025/26 campaign; she also created the most chances (5) in the match, but her teammates failed to make the most out of it.
After recording nine goals and five assists in 22 appearances during her first season at the club, Echegini will be aiming to improve even further this season.
While Echegini was in PSG’s starting XI, her fellow 2024 WAFCON winner Rasheedat Ajibade—who recently joined the team on a two-year deal—was left on the bench before coming on in the second half for her debut after replacing Crystal Dunn.
Len Fight Back After Jennifer Echegini’s Impact
It took the Nigerian midfielder just 25 minutes to combine well with her teammate Merveille Kanjinga and break the deadlock.
The ball was perfectly launched by Echegini, and Kanjinga adjusted brilliantly to send it past the opposing goalkeeper.
PSG took that slim lead into the half-time break and maintained their ground in the second period.
However, just when they thought they had secured all three points away from home, Lens struck in the 84th minute.
Super sub Sherly Jeudy levelled the scores at 1-1, just eight minutes after coming on.
Four minutes later, Echegini made way for Anais Ebayilin, but the game finished 1-1. The PSG ladies’ next fixture will be against Nantes.
