It’s no longer news that former England and Arsenal midfielder – Jack Wilshere has opted to hang up his boots, and he has now been officially named the head coach of the Gunners’ U18 team.
After leaving the field of professional football last week, Jack Wilshere has been named the head coach of Arsenal’s under-18 team.
Jack Wilshere, who graduated from the Arsenal academy made 197 appearances for the Gunners senior team between 2008 to 2018 and was only able to lift the FA Cup twice.
A day after finishing his five-month spell at Danish club AGF, he announced on Friday, at the age of 30, that his playing days were over.
The England international worked with the Arsenal young players briefly last year, but this will be his first professional coaching role.
Wilshere, who played for Bournemouth and West Ham as well during a career marred by injuries, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the North London team’s U18 team.
The midfielder emphasized that he is back to where he belongs and commended the Premier League team for their faith and support on his social media pages.
“Absolutely honoured to be the new U18βs head coach at this amazing club. Thanks to the club for your trust and support. Back where I belong” – Jack Wilshere said.
