Manchester City finally got the job done for Pep Guardiola in the fifth round of the FA Cup, defeating Peterborough United 2-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.
The hosts made them work tirelessly, and the Grant McCann side could have gone ahead after 10 minutes when Fuchs forced a superb stop from Ederson with a deflected shot.
The Premier League defending Champions, on the other hand, stepped into the game at the Weston Homes Stadium and controlled the first half, dictating possession and coming within inches of scoring on several occasions.

After 60 minutes, they eventually broke the deadlock when Riyad Mahrez cut onto his left foot and fired a shot into the far corner to make it 1-0.
Soon after, they added to their lead with a world-class goal, as Foden found Grealish with a fantastic lofted through pass from his own half, which his teammate took down and slid through the keeper’s legs.

They had a couple of chances late into the game to add to their two-goal lead, including an amazing miss from Laporte as he blasted the ball wide.
Despite a valiant display from Peterborough, the final score was 2-0.
While speaking on the club website after the game, City manager Pep Guardiola heaped praise on his players.
?”They were brilliant goals. The quality of Riyad and the second goal the same. It was good. We created chances. All of them were brilliant. The pass from Phil was excellent – the control was excellent from Jack. He was aggressive in the final third and is back from injury,” he said.
The Citizens have qualified for the competition’s final eight, which will take place on Thursday, March 3rd at 20:15pm.

They will try to win the tournament as they pursue further cup success alongside their Premier League championship defence.
The Posh on the other hand will now concentrate more on their fight against relegation to the third division as they attempt to climb out of the bottom half of the standings.
