France are through to the final of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after beating Morocco 2-0 during their semi-final clash at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday night.
The French team came into this match off of a decisive performance against England in the quarterfinals, defeating the Three Lions despite not playing at their peak.
They were dependent on Harry Kane’s penalty-shot goal, which he missed to keep the game from going into extra time.
While Morocco is the first African nation to advance to the semifinals and has a rich history at the 2022 World Cup.
In their quest to get to the final, they had the backing of the entire world, but notably the African continent.
France took a 1-0 lead over at halftime thanks to a goal from Theo Hernandez. After Kylian Mbappe had two shots blocked, the AC Milan left-back was in the right place at the back post to score with a superb finish.
Olivier Giroud blew two fantastic chances for France to seize the initiative.
While Morocco continued to look for a breakthrough, Kolo Muani grabbed his first international goal in the 79th minute of the match with his first touch, sending France into the World Cup final.

Mbappe caused chaos in the final third as he maneuvers to shoot at goal. Although his attempt was blocked, Kolo Muani was able to direct the ball beyond Bounou from six yards away thanks to the rebound.
