The Flamingos U-17 World Cup campaign continues to impress, as Nigeria’s young talents maintained their perfect record with a dramatic 1-0 victory over the Dominican Republic.
The Flamingos wrapped up their group phase of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a good win against the hosts, footballrover reports.
The clash was far from easy, but the Flamingos held their nerve and delivered when it mattered most.
A late strike in the dying minutes sealed the win, leaving their opponents stunned and setting up a quarter-final showdown.
Coming off the back of two dominant performances—a 4-1 win over New Zealand and a 4-0 rout of Ecuador—the Flamingos entered the match full of confidence.
However, their Dominican opponents proved more resilient than expected, keeping the Nigerians at bay for most of the game. A disallowed goal and missed opportunities added to the tension.

Captain Taiwo Afolabi came close to scoring in the 28th minute, forcing a solid save from the Dominican goalkeeper. Despite controlling much of the game, Nigeria struggled to find the back of the net.
