After captaining Delta Queens for the last two seasons, she has now joined the Garden City Giants as part of the 14 new signings for the NWFL 2025 campaign, Footballrover reports.

With her sights set on several silverwares, the fast-rising playmaker has sent a strong message to her passionate fans:

“Be ready for me to give them good football, deliver my best, go on the pitch, play the ball I have passion for, and give them a good result.”

In an exclusive interview with the team’s media, Afolabi revealed how her passion for football started early in life, shaped by family influence and competitive street games.

“I started at a young age when I was in primary school. My brother was a footballer also, but not as a professional, so he usually encouraged me to play football,” she recalled.

Growing up in Ibadan, she honed her skills playing with boys in local competitions.

“I do play middle competitions, and from there, I developed a strong passion for football,” she added.

That passion led her to professional football in 2021 with Delta Queens, where she quickly rose through the ranks.

But now, I’m here,” she declared, ready to make history with Rivers Angels.

Unlike many young footballers, who usually struggle for parental approval, Taiwo Afolabi was fortunate to have massive family support.

Well, since my brother approved of me playing football, I had no issues with my mom. They gave me full support, even my dad and my uncle too. They all gave me 100% support to start playing football.”

And of course, her journey so far clearly shows the power of encouragement, proving that having a strong support system can propel one to greater heights.
