Fisayo Dele-Bashiru netted his first goal of the season, but it was not enough to secure victory for Lazio as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Atalanta in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.
After opening the scoring, Dele-Bashiru watched as Lazio surrendered their lead twice, ultimately settling for a draw at the Stadio Olimpico, Footballrover reports.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru Shines in Coppa Italia Semi-Final Thriller
The 25-year-old midfielder delivered an impressive all-round performance. In addition to his goal, he completed the most dribbles in the match (three) and recorded the highest passing accuracy (95%) among players who featured for 45 minutes or more.
Dele-Bashiru now has two goal contributions this season, having also provided an assist on February 11, 2026, in the quarter-final clash against Bologna.
A place in the Coppa Italia final remains undecided after both teams played out an entertaining four-goal thriller in Rome, with the visitors extending their unbeaten run against Lazio this season.
Atalanta started brightly and had an early goal ruled out for offside, while further aerial pressure and a free kick narrowly missed the target.
Lazio gradually grew into the contest, though clear chances were limited before the break, with both sides striking the woodwork in a tight first half.
Late Drama as Atalanta Fight Back Against Lazio
The game burst into life after the restart. The hosts struck first when Dele-Bashiru calmly chipped home, but the visitors responded within minutes through Mario Pašalić.
Late drama followed as Boulaye Dia capitalised on a defensive error to put Lazio ahead, only for the away side to equalise again through Yunus Musah moments later.
In the end, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru bagged the man of the match award and everything is now set for a decisive second leg in Bergamo on 22 April.
Meanwhile, in the English Premier League, Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze, and Alex Iwobi all featured as Fulham suffered a disappointing 1-0 home league defeat to West Ham.
Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi were both in action as Nottingham Forest held Manchester City to a 2-2 draw. Despite the positive result, Forest remain locked in the relegation battle.
