The two teams went into penalties after the match ended goalless at the end of 90 minutes of regulation time and 30 minutes of extra time.

A full-time extraA second goal, scored by substitute Salma Paralleuelo in 111 minutes with an assist from Jennifer Hermoso, was all Spain needed to defeat the Netherlands 2-1.

The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and went into extra time.

Salma Paralleuelo, who substituted Alba Redondo in the 71st minute of the second half, changed the course of the game for Spain after a goalless first half.

Marina Caldentey converted a penalty awarded in favour of Salma Paralleuelo after a routine VAR check in the 79th minute of the match for the Spanish’s first goal of the match.

Stefanie van der Gragt drew the Netherlands 1-1 in one minute of full-time extra time.

In the second quarterfinal match played at Eden Park Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, Sweden netted two goals in two halves.to defeat Japan 2-1.

Swedish stars Amanda IIestedt and Filippa Angeldahi, respectively, scored in the 32nd and 51st minutes of the match.

Filippa’s goal was, however, from the spot after a penalty was awarded in favour of Jonna Anderson.

Honoka Hayashi reduced the goal tally to 1-2 for Japan in the 87th minute of the second half to end the match 2-1 in favour of Sweden.

Spain will meet Sweden in the first semi-finals on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in Auckland, New Zealand.

While Australia will meet the Lionesses of England in the second semi-final on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Sydney, Australia,

England came from a goal down to beat Colombia in the last quarterfinal match of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Colombia had taken the lead early in the first half before England drew 1-1 late in the half. England’s winning goal came soon after the resumption in the second half.
