The Super Eagles have extended an invitation to Felix Agu for their upcoming training camp, a golden opportunity for the versatile defender to prove his mettle.

Playing for Werder Bremen, Agu recently carved his name in Bundesliga history.

On the final matchday of the 2024-2025 season, Agu clocked a top speed of 36.31 kilometres per hour during Werder Bremen’s emphatic 4-1 away victory against Heidenheim.

This blistering pace wasn’t just the fastest of the matchday; it also positioned Felix Agu as the eighth fastest player in the entire Bundesliga season.

Such impressive athleticism undoubtedly played a role in the Super Eagles call-up.

Felix Agu, who featured for 72 minutes in that record-setting game, has proven to be a valuable asset for Werder Bremen throughout the season.

The defender participated in 25 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and one assist.

His versatility allows him to operate effectively at left-back, right midfield, and left midfield, adding another dimension to why the Super Eagles are keen to assess him.

From Bundesliga record to Super Eagles call-up: Agu’s journey

Born in Osnabrück, Agu is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father. Despite having played for Germany’s U21 team previously, he remains uncapped at the senior international level, making this Super Eagles call-up a significant step.

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has been actively pursuing Agu’s international commitment, a pursuit that has been boosted by the player’s own expressed desire to don the green and white jersey.
