Esther Okoronkwo delivered another masterclass performance as she powered her team, AFC Toronto, to the Northern Super League final with a blistering first-half hat-trick against Montreal Roses FC at a snow-covered York Lions Stadium.
The Super Falcons forward showed her attacking instinct early on, scoring three times in 20 minutes to seal a 4–1 win for the regular-season champions, Footballrover reports.

Her goals ensured Toronto advanced 6–1 on aggregate after also winning the first leg 2–0 in Montreal.
Okoronkwo opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a simple tap-in, calmly converting a clever setup from Kaylee Hunter.
She doubled the lead 14 minutes later with a beautifully taken free kick from an awkward angle that left the goalkeeper and her defender rooted.
Her third was pure determination and skill — after her initial pass was intercepted, the ball rebounded kindly, and the 28-year-old Nigerian forward danced past four defenders before slotting home a low finish to complete her hat-trick.
Lauren Rowe added a fourth for Toronto in the 84th minute, while Tanya Boychuk grabbed a consolation for the Roses in the 74th.
Toronto Eye Glory After Okoronkwo’s Heroics
The emphatic win means Toronto will face Vancouver Rise in Saturday’s NSL Final at BMO Field. Vancouver reached the final after edging Ottawa 5–4 on penalties following a 3–3 aggregate draw.
The second leg of Toronto’s semifinal had initially been postponed due to heavy snowfall, but that didn’t cool the ice in Okoronkwo’s veins.
The Nigerian forward, who finished the regular season with eight goals and eight assists in 1,486 minutes, now has 11 goals in total this season.
29 goal contributions in 30 matches across club and country in 2025 — no African player has matched that.
Her dominance over Montreal has been consistent — she’s faced them five times this season, scoring four goals and registering three assists without suffering a single defeat.
Beyond club football, Okoronkwo’s exploits continue to shine on the continent.
The Super Falcons striker has been shortlisted for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award, alongside teammate Rasheedat Ajibade, and she continues to seal her status as one of Africa’s standout forwards heading into 2026.
