Emmanuel Deutsch, the head coach of Ebyimba Football Club, is confident his team will stay in the top division despite their recent struggles.
The Cameroonian manager shared his optimism after a tough road trip, Footballrover reports.
Heavy Loss to Kano Pillars in NPFL Action
The nine-time Nigerian champions recently travelled to face the Sai Masu Gida side in a 2025/2026 Matchday 31 fixture.
It was a difficult afternoon for the visiting team, as the hosts took control of the game very early on.
Forward Chiedozie Okorie put the home side ahead just 11 minutes into the match. Right before the halftime whistle, veteran winger Ahmed Musa doubled the lead.
The four-time league winners held onto their two-goal advantage until the final whistle, claiming all three points.
This victory pushed the home team out of the drop zone and up to 13th place on the table with 39 points.
On the other hand, the People’s Elephant slipped down to 16th place with 36 points, keeping them dangerously close to the bottom.
Coach Deutsch Confident Enyimba Will Escape Relegation
Despite the setback, the manager believes his squad has what it takes to bounce back.
He acknowledged that the match was tough, especially since both clubs were desperate for points to climb out of danger.
“It was a difficult match. We played against a spirited Kano Pillars side. Going into the game, both teams were in the danger zone, and the home team had a reason to win,” Deutsch said.
“Both of us were at the bottom; they were at home, and they took that advantage.
“Enyimba will maintain their position in the Premier League. I’m very optimistic about that. Enyimba will survive at the end of the season.”
The legendary club will now turn their attention to a massive home derby against local rivals Abia Warriors for matchday 32.
The coach noted that his team will return home immediately to prepare for this crucial clash in Aba.
