Enugu Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has made it clear that his team is fully prepared to fight for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) crown.
With just eight games remaining in the season, the title race is heating up. The Flying Antelopes are currently sitting in second place, trailing leaders Rivers United by just a single point, Footballrover reports.
Enugu Rangers Prepared For The Title Push
The eight-time league champions have a golden opportunity to leapfrog into first place with a victory over El-Kanemi Warriors at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.
Their rivals, the Pride of Rivers, do not play until Monday, when they face Nasarawa United in Lafia, having lost three consecutive away games.
Despite the high stakes, Ilechukwu is keeping his squad grounded and calm. He revealed that his team are not letting the stress of the table get to them.
“There is no different message; we don’t want to be under pressure because of the league. We take it one game after the other; after this game we talk about the next one,” Ilechukwu said.

The Coal City side boss has full confidence in his squad. He believes the players have the right mindset to go all the way and lift the trophy at the end of the campaign.
“They understand what it takes to win. They have the attitude, the capacity, and the character, and they understand what we want. To me, we are always ready,” Ilechukwu added.
While Ilechukwu is confident in his camp, he was quick to show respect to the current league leaders.
He acknowledged that overtaking the top team will be a massive challenge, but it is a challenge the Flying Antelopes are ready to accept.
“They are the strongest team, but you never can tell what will happen. We are also strong. In the remaining games, we will fight more and stay at the top of our game but without pressure,” he said.
With only a handful of matches left, both teams are prepared for a photo-finish in one of the most exciting NPFL races in recent memory.
