Enugu Rangers kicked off their title defence with a result that left their passionate home fans shaking their heads in disappointment with the outcome against President FA Cup champions El-Kanemi Warriors.
The much-anticipated season opener at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium saw the Coal City side host El-Kanemi Warriors in a clash that was expected to display their dominance, Footballrover reports.
However, the reigning champions fell short of expectations, managing only a frustrating goalless draw against the visiting Borno Warriors.
The Flying Antelopes controlled much of the game, but their lack of finishing touch left them without a breakthrough.
Despite their dominance, their shots lacked the precision needed to find the back of the net.
On the other hand, El-Kanemi Warriors, under the guidance of coach Aliyu Zubairu, held their ground and even created some threatening chances in this fiercely contested encounter.
Rangers’ goalkeeper, Japheth Opubo, came to the rescue with a brilliant save in the second half, preventing what could have been a stunning upset.

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side has now managed just one win in three competitive outings this season—a start that’s sure to raise concerns among their supporters.
As for the rest of the NPFL, the remaining nine matches of matchday one are set to unfold next weekend, with fans waiting patiently to see who will make an early statement in the league.
