Kano Pillars captain Rabiu Ali has addressed recent rumours surrounding his personal life (number of wives) while also sharing his admiration for two prominent coaches in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).
Speaking openly to Complete Sports, the veteran midfielder set the record straight on speculation about his family life and praised the leadership qualities of Enugu Rangers’ coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and coach of Remo Stars’ Daniel Ogunmodede.
Ali names his top NPFL Coaches
In the interview after Kano Pillars’ defeat to Abia Warriors during a Matchday-4 NPFL fixture in Umuahia, Ali took a moment to highlight the two coaches he holds in the highest regard, Footballrover reports.
Though he claimed to have never played under both coaches, the 43-year-old midfielder is impressed by the tactical brilliance and personalities of both Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede.
“I’ve not played under either of them, but in my view, Ilechukwu of Rangers and Ogunmodede of Remo Stars stand out. I love their carriage, charisma, and everything about them, including the way their teams play,” Ali commented.
Debunking rumours about his marital life
Away from football, Ali also took the opportunity to clear up rumours about his marital status.
For some time, speculation had circulated that the Kano Pillars star has three wives.
However, Ali firmly debunked the claim, insisting he is content with his two wives.
“I have only two wives, not three. I’m content with two and have no need for more or for going outside,” Ali clarified.
As the Kano Pillars struggle with a slow start to their NPFL campaign, the midfielder is more focused on helping the team to turn the tide.
The team, having won just one of their first four games, will look to regain their footing in an upcoming clash with the Sunshine Stars, where a win could provide the boost they need for the rest of the season.
