Ecuador on Friday consolidated the flying start at Qatar 2022 World Cup by playing a 1-1 draw with Netherlands in the second Group A, Round 2 match played at Khalifa International Stadium, Doha.

Cody Gakpo scored early for Netherlands in the 6th minute of the first half with an assist from Davy Klassen.

Pervis Estupinan then equalised for Ecuador at the dying minutes of first half extra time, but Algerian referee, Mustapha Ghorbal, ruled the goal as offside.

In 49th minute of the second half, Enner Valencia, equalised for Ecuador to end the match at 1-1 draw.

Enner Valencia reclaimed the top spot in Qatar’s scoring records and made history by becoming just the fourth player to find back of the next in six consecutive World Cup for his nation.

Four of his five shots, including one that beat Noppert, were from within the penalty area.

He received seven touches in the penalty area, finished off two crucial passes, and engaged in a total of 14 duels, five of which were aerial. Talisman.

However, the hosts Qatar, who are unable to catch up to these two teams with the four points they now have, are eliminated by their draw.

In their previous 3-1 loss to Senegal, Qatar did score their first-ever World Cup goal, but this outcome means their tournament is all but done.
