Eberechi Eze has carried on from where he left off, scoring more goals and picking up momentum under Roy Hodgson’s tutelage as Palace secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over West Ham at Selhurst Park.
Soucek’s strike from a corner gave the visitors the lead in the ninth minute, but three goals from Jordan Ayew, Wilfried Zaha, and Jeffrey Schlupp flipped the game around for the hosts.
Before the first half break, Antonio did score from another great corner kick attack.
But Palace managed to maintain their lead throughout and scored their fourth goal from the penalty spot after Eze converted the spot kick.
Eberechi Eze’s game by numbers vs West Ham:
75 touches
52 passes completed (most)
5 duels won
4 chances created (most)
2 shots
1 goal
0.82 xG
West Ham’s Aguerd attempted another corner kick, but they were unable to score the crucial equalizer.
Between Crystal Palace and West Ham today, Eberechi Eze played more passes (52/56), more passes in the final third (25/27) and more important passes (4) than any other player.
Prior to this game, both teams were still looking to secure their Premier League status for the following season, and they both suffered defeats in the middle of the week to hamper their efforts.
Even though Palace is now formally safe, that win moves them up to 11th place with 40 points, which should be enough to keep them there.
Next weekend, Eberechi Eze and his colleagues will head to Tottenham in the hopes of building on their recent winning formula.
Meanwhile, West Ham will continue to be in 15th place, five points above the relegation zone, and will play their game against Manchester City in the middle of the week.
