Netherlands are through to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after hammering United States 3-1 during their clash at Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Netherlands won Group A to progress to the round of 16, and Cody Gakpo scored in each game as they collected seven of the possible nine points.

The United States advanced to the knockout stages courtesy of Christian Pulisic’s pivotal goal against Iran in their last Group B match.

Netherlands overlapping defender – Denzel Dumfries was the mystery player behind the victory of the Dutch National Football Team over United States of America in the first round of 16.

Dumfries right wing pass to Barcelona marksman – Memphis Depay gave the Reds the first goal in 10th minute of the first half of the match.

Dumfries combined beautifully with Daley Blind in first half extra time (46th minute) to score the second goal for Netherlands.

Haji Wright then reduced the tally to 1-2 for USA in 76th minute of the second half with an assist from Chelsea star – Christian Pulisic.

Dumfries Denzel combined again with Daley Blind in 81st minute of the second half to score the third and last goal of the match for Netherlands.

Netherlands will now meet either Australia or Argentina in the Quarter Final of Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Meanwhile Van Gaal has now managed 11 World Cup games and has never lost (W8 D3), which is the most without ever losing in the championship game. He Equaled Mario Zagallo tally of 11. Only Brazilian coach – Luiz Felipe Scolari have longer unbeaten streaks (12).
