Coach Aniedi Dickson, Chairman of Dakkada, commended Rivers United for being the best team in the 2021–2022 NPFL and heaped praises on their determination in winning the league title as wholly merited.

On behalf of all of us at Dakkada Football Club, I congratulate you (Rivers United) on your thoroughly deserving feat of winning the 2021/2022 NPFL title thereby distinguishing yourselves as the best team in the country.” – Mr. Dickson wrote.

The retired Permanent Secretary added;

That you have won the league with three matches to spare goes to show how hardworking, disciplined and determined you have been all through the season and I urge you all to brace yourselves for the next CAF Champions League season, which is one of the rewards for winning the league, in order to give the country an effectual representation at the continental showpiece.”

Meanwhile, Rivers United team has also received congratulations from former league champions – Kano Pillars football club for winning the 2021–2022 Nigeria Professional Football League Season.

The management, players, and technical staff of Rivers United were commended in a statement signed by the media officer of the defending champions – Rilwanu Idris Malikawa for their dedication to helping the team win this season’s trophy.

On behalf of Kano Pillars football club management, players, technical Crew and entire family of the club we wish to congratulate Pride of Rivers for becoming champions of the 2021/2022 NPFL with three weeks to rounded up the Season.” – Malikawa said.

He claimed that the Sai Masu Gida family wished Rivers United football team well and expressed faith in their ability to represent the nation in the upcoming CAF champions league.

Once again congratulations to the pride of Rivers and the entire football family of Rivers state.” – Malikawa concluded.

After Plateau United fell to Akwa United on matchday 35 in Uyo last weekend, Rivers United won the league title without ever kicking a ball.

When matchday 36 kicks off this weekend, the Stanley Eguma side will be facing Kano Pillars at home for a chance to preserve their ten-point lead at the top of the table, while Dakkada will host Katsina United in Uyo.
