Enugu Rangers Football Club has hit a new milestone in their chase for continental glory after they clinched a hard-fought 2-1 aggregate victory over US Zilimadjou in their CAF Champions League game.
This victory marked a significant milestone for the NPFL champions, as it was their 122nd match on the continent, Footballrover reports.
Enyimba FC is the only other Nigerian team to have played over 100 matches. They’re Centurions with 156 appearances.
Rangers Int’l FC are competing on the continent for the 20th time in their history, which is at least two more seasons than any other Nigerian club.
Despite facing a tough challenge from the Zilimadjou side, the Coal City side managed to maintain their composure to secure a crucial draw, leading to an aggregate victory.
Rangers have advanced to the next round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers after securing a 1-1 draw today against Comoro’s team, US Zilimadjou.
The Enugu-based club moved on to the second and final preliminary round of the CAF Champions League with a 2-1 aggregate victory over US Zilimadjou.
The first half was tightly contested, with neither side taking advantage of their limited opportunities. However, the hosts pulled ahead in the second half.
Rangers took the lead after a brilliant run was halted, resulting in a penalty. Kenechukwu Agwu stepped up and calmly converted the spot kick.
Despite this, US Zilimadjou fought back and levelled the score with a superb header against the run of play, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.

The Flying Antelopes will now prepare to face the winner of the St. Louis vs. Sagrada Esperanca match in the final round.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s team may have met their goal today, but they remain winless in their last four home games on the continent.
They’ve only managed to keep just 2 clean sheets in their last 10 continental home matches.
