On Friday, players and officials of Heartland FC of Owerri were injured and rushed to the hospital after their bus was involved in an accident while en route to Abakaliki for a pre-season tournament in Ebonyi State.

According to a club release shortly after the accident, the team’s vehicle collided with another vehicle that had been left carelessly parked following a previous crash, Footballrover reports.

Footballrover understands that this happened near Umunna, close to Okigwe, still within Imo State.

Despite the chaos, there were no fatalities reported.

However, some players and officials did sustain injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
