Portsmouth FC have made a key summer signing by landing Nigerian shot-stopper Comfort Erhabor on a free transfer ahead of the 2025–26 Women’s Super League 2 season.

Known for her sharp reflexes and confident presence, the young goalkeeper has returned to the Blues, and this time, it’s permanent, Footballrover reports.

Comfort Erhabor Returns to Portsmouth FC After Loan Success

After making waves during her loan spell last season, many fans and observers believe this move could be a major step toward a potential Super Falcons call-up.

Comfort Erhabor has signed a one-year contract with Portsmouth, with an option to extend by another year.

Her arrival marks Portsmouth’s sixth addition of the summer transfer window—part of the club’s ongoing mission to build a competitive, fully professional squad in WSL 2.

Erhabor previously spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Fratton Park from Brighton & Hove Albion.

During that time, she delivered impressive performances under pressure, winning over coaches and fans.

Portsmouth head coach Jay Sadler was full of praise for the 20-year-old:

— “We’re really pleased to welcome Comfort back to the club on a permanent deal. She’s a goalkeeper with real character, and she showed glimpses of her potential during her short loan spell with us last season.”

From Brighton to Portsmouth—Comfort Erhabor’s Rise

Before her breakout loan spell at Portsmouth FC, Comfort Erhabor spent time on loan at Plymouth Argyle and Scottish side Hibernian, gathering valuable experience.

She came through the youth ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion, where she developed the skills that now set her apart.

Her technical ability, calm under pressure, and command in the box have earned her growing recognition. Coach Jay Sadler added:

— “Comfort Erhabor has all the tools to grow into a top goalkeeper, and her presence will bring healthy competition to our goalkeeping department.”

At the international level, Erhabor has already represented Nigeria at the U-17 level and is under serious consideration for both the U-20s and senior Super Falcons call-up.

Given her form and growth trajectory, a debut at the highest level might not be far away.

Her move to Portsmouth FC could be the start of something big—not just for her club career but also her chances with the Super Falcons.

Her parents are from Edo State, Nigeria, but she was born and raised in England.

At just 20, she has already shown her resilience, character, and commitment to improving every season.
