Chelsea star Tosin Adarabioyo has taken to social media to celebrate Ademola Lookman after the Super Eagles forward was named the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year.
The Premier League defender, who shared his message on X, praised Lookman as “The BEST player in Africa“, describing the award as “well deserved.”
Lookman triumphs over strong competition
Ademola Lookman’s exceptional performances in 2024 earned him the prestigious CAF Player of the Year award, surpassing other top nominees like Achraf Hakimi, Serhou Guirassy, Simon Adingra, and Ronwen Williams, Footballrover reports.
The announcement was made at the star-studded ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, where Lookman became the sixth Nigerian player to win the coveted title.
He joins the ranks of football legends such as Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Nwankwo Kanu, Victor Ikpeba, and last year’s winner, Victor Osimhen.
A year of glory for Lookman
Lookman’s stellar year included key performances for both club and country.
He helped Nigeria reach the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, further cementing his place as a vital player for the Super Eagles.
On the club front, Lookman’s most memorable moment came in the 2024 Europa League final, where he scored a brilliant hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
A global acknowledgement
Lookman’s incredible form also earned him a spot on the Ballon d’Or shortlist, where he finished 14th, making him the only African player in contention.
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo wasn’t the only one to congratulate Ademola Lookman; additional praise followed from his club and UEFA.
Atalanta shared their excitement on X, commenting on Lookman’s CAF Player of the Year win.

While UEFA also recognised his achievement on their Champions League X handle.
