Despite rumors of a move from Napoli to the Premier League, Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has acknowledged in an interview with Sport1 that former Chelsea player Didier Drogba is his childhood hero.

The Nigerian international Victor Osimhen scored his 50th goal for Napoli on Tuesday night, solidifying himself as one of Europe’s top forwards this season.

The in-form Nigerian striker scored twice to help the Serie A leaders overcome their Bundesliga opponents and advance to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Victor Osimhen discussed his admiration for Didier Drogba and the impact the Ivorian had on his stile of play in a statement he made shortly after the Champions League match against Frankfurt.

While discussing the Chelsea legend and star player, Osimhen said:

Didier Drogba is my idol. I loved watching him play as a kid. I always wanted to be like him.

Meanwhile, several top football teams in the world, like Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United, have all been rumored to be linked to him due to his recent success with Napoli.

As teams keep rolling out their admiration with a transfer for the striker, Victor Osimhen acknowledged that conversations about his future with his present team, Napoli, will take place.

I don’t know what the future holds. At the end of the season, I will sit down with my agents and discuss. I will also be in talks with Napoli. I am incredibly grateful to Napoli. We’ll find a good solution together“. – he told Sport1

The forward added;

We want to give the title to Napoli fans. The passion for football here is simply something you can’t describe“.

The 24-year-old striker is the first Napoli player in history to score in both legs of a Champions League knockout tie and has now scored 50 goals across all competitions for Napoli in 90 games played.
