Rivers United star man – Ishaq Kayode Rafiu is thrilled at the prospect of representing his country at the national level after being called up to the Super Eagles squad.
The forward, who was overjoyed and couldn’t resist making it known on social media, claimed it’s a dream come true for him and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear the Super Eagles’ colors.
The 21-year-old, who now leads the NPFL scoring chart with 14 goals, went on to acknowledge his Rivers United teammates and technical staff for their unwavering support.
Ishaq Rafiu conveyed his emotions on his official Twitter profile, saying:
“Excited to be called up to the @NGSuperEagles squad for the friendly games vs Mexico & Ecuador. For me, this is a dream come true & a rare opportunity to wear the π³π¬ colour as well. Grateful to @RiversUnitedFC management/technical crew & my teammates for their support.”

The forward will almost probably make his debut when Nigeria’s Super Eagles meet Mexico and Ecuador in an international friendly.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
The Super Eagles coaching staff, lead by Salisu Yusuf, decided to bring in several fresh players for the games.
The Super Eagles squad published includes a mix of foreign-based players and Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) talent.
There are eight home based players on the list, while others are foreign based.
The Super Eagles will face Mexico at AT & T Stadium in Dallas on Saturday, May 28th.
The second friendly versus Ecuador will take place at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Thursday, June 2nd.
