Bamidele Yusuf: There was a time this season when FK Vojvodina seemed destined for obscurity. Seventeenth on the table and struggling to find rhythm, the Serbian side needed a spark.
That fire came in the form of Bamidele Yusuf, a relatively unknown Nigerian forward who transformed their season—and ignited Vojvodina’s European dreams, Footballrover reports.
Signed in the summer of 2024 from Radnički Niš, Yusuf didn’t explode immediately.
It took him four games to settle, but once he did—with a brace against Radnicki in August—the goals flowed and the narrative changed.
Now, with 18 goals across competitions, he sits joint-third among Nigerian scorers in Europe, tied with Ademola Lookman and behind only Victor Osimhen and Tolu Arokodare.
Bamidele Yusuf’s goal surge powers late-season push
In Friday night’s 2-1 win over OFK Beograd, it was Bamidele Yusuf again who delivered, calmly converting a 17th-minute penalty to secure vital points.
That goal was his fourth in the last seven matches—and his third in four playoff games—making him a symbol of Vojvodina’s resurgence.
The 24-year-old’s total this season breaks down to 12 goals and 3 assists in the regular season, 3 goals and 2 assists in the playoffs, and 3 more strikes in the cup competition.
It’s not just about numbers, though. His timing, versatility as a left winger and second striker, and ability to perform under pressure have lifted the club’s spirits.
Vojvodina European dreams now within reach
From languishing at the bottom, Vojvodina European dreams are now alive, with the club firmly in third place in the playoff standings.
While catching runaway leaders Red Star Belgrade may be a stretch, continental football is within grasp—largely thanks to Bamidele Yusuf.
He has become the heartbeat of the team. For a player who once plied his trade in Portugal and Slovakia, his journey speaks volumes of grit and progression.
From Estoril to Spartak Trnava to Radnički Niš and now Vojvodina—every stop sharpened his instincts.
As things stand, his impact this season will be remembered not just for the goals but for breathing life back into a struggling club and fuelling Vojvodina’s European dreams that once seemed impossible.
