In the first Semi-final match played at Lusail Iconic Stadium, Lusail, Messi scored the first goal through a penalty in 34th minutes of the first half after Croatian goalkeeper – Dominik Livakovic, pulled down a menacing Argentine marksman – Julian Alvarez.
Italian referee, Daniele Orsato, awarded a penalty in favour of the two time World Cup winners, Argentina.
Lionel Messi again mesmerized his way into the Croatian eighteen yard box and made a telegraphic pass to Argentine forward, Julian Alvarez, who who scored the third goal for Argentina in the 69th minute of the second half.
The Argentine forward – Julian Alvarez, had earlier capitalized on communication breakdown in Croatian defence to score his team’s second goal in 39th minutes of the first half of the match.

Croatia dominated possession during the first half and after the break as well, but they just couldn’t create much, and Argentina’s third goal ended their hopes.
