U-20 World Cup: All eyes on Italian Midfielders to crush Uruguay

Global attention in today’s U-20 football World Cup final in Argentina will be on three Italian midfielders who have scored most of the team’s goals in the championship.U-20 World Cup: All eyes on Italian Midfielders to crush Uruguay

The midfielders Casere Casadei, Tommaso Baldanzi, and Matteo Pratti have together netted a total of 10 (ten) goals for Italy in the competition.

Casere Casadei, the tournament’s highest goal scorer, has so far scored seven goals in six  matches, while Tommaso Baldanzi, another midfielder, has scored two  goals in six matches.

Matteo Pratti has scored one goal in six..

The Italian U-20 football team has only lost one match in the championship, 2-3, at the group stage to one of the championship quarterfinalists, Nigeria.

It won two other matches in group D: 3-2 against favorites Brazil and 3-0 against the Dominican Republic.

To qualify for today’s championship finals scheduled for the Argentine city of La Plata, by 10:00 p.m. Nigerian time, the Italian team eliminated England 2-1 in the round of 16, Colombia 3-1 in the quarterfinal, and South Korea 2-1 in the semifinal.

Italy’s opponent in today’s final, Uruguay, has three players to rely on for goals: forward Anderson Duarte, midfielders Franco Gonzalez, and Matias Abaldo.

The three players have together scored seven of the South American team’s goals in the championship. Forward-playing Anderson Duarte has scored three goals in six  matches.

Midfielders Franco Gonzalez and Matias Abaldo had, respectively, scored two goals in six matches for Uruguay.

Uruguay won two matches and lost one in group E to finish second behind England with six points.

England topped the group with seven points after two wins and a draw. African representatives, Tunisia finished third with three points, while Iraq occupied the last position in the group with one point.

Uruguay eliminated another African representative, Gambia, in the round of 16 with a 1-0 score line, defeated the United States of America 2-0  in the quarterfinals, and Israel 1-0 in the semi-finals to set the stage for today’s final match.

At the same venue today, at 2:30 p.m. Nigerian time, Israel will lock horns with South Korea in the third-place playoff.

The Asian representative, South Korea, is favored to run away with the bronze medal of the championship.
