England have suffered a shocking setback after they were relegated to League B of the Nations League after losing to Italy at San Siro on Friday night.
With one win and two draws in their first three Nations League games, Italy came into the game in third place in the group, just two points behind leader – Hungary.
The only loss they have suffered was a 5-2 defeat to Germany the last time they played, while Roberto Mancini’s team drew 0-0 with England at Molineux in the reverse match.
Meanwhile, the 2019 Nations League semifinalist England, however, was now last in the group and had lost all four of its opening games.

Gareth Southgate’s team, which only managed one goal, drew with Germany and Italy but lost to Hungary twice.
Italy had far more better opportunities, but neither team was able to put any pressure on the opposing goalie as the game ended scoreless at halftime.
The hosts’ greatest chance came from West Ham forward Scamacca, who outleaped Maguire to connect with a cross from Dimarco, but the Italian headed the ball directly at Pope.
At the other end, Kane’s long-range attempt toward the end of the first half went well over, while Bellingham’s effort that rebounded toward goal was the only one the England side had on target.

Before Raspadori found back of the net to give Italy a well deserved lead in the second half after a stalemate in the first half.
Italy captain – Bonucci’s direct pass forward was deftly controlled by the Napoli forward, who then switched the ball to his right foot and sent the ball past Pope into the bottom corner.
England, who had gone three games without scoring, struggled mightily to get the ball past Donnarumma.
The PSG goalkeeper was never really put to the test, but he did have two quick-fire attempts from a tight angle saved. Rice also put the Italian to the test.
If Italy defeats Hungary in the last league match, they will take first place in the group.
