The move marks a new chapter in Adebayo’s career, after his impactful run in Estonia, Footballrover reports.

From Tammeka Hero to IK Start’s Newest Weapon

Adebayo joined Tammeka in 2023 and since then has played 69 games, scoring 42 goals and providing 6 assists.

His last seven games for Tammeka saw him deliver nine goal contributions—six goals and three assists—exactly the kind of firepower his new side, Start, is set to enjoy.

The 23-year-old forward also has experience in the Danish Midtjylland (U19), as well as Latvian sides Leevon Saldus and Mārupes SC.

— “I am incredibly happy to be in place in Kristiansand and IK Start! I have really wanted to join the club, and I am looking forward to getting started! Right now, Start is playing the direct football that suits me, with a lot of physicality and passing,” Adebayo said.

Why IK Start Believe in Ahmed Adebayo’s Project Fit

Ahmed Adebayo stated that he had consistently engaged in good conversations with IK Start head coach, Azar Karadas, regarding the club’s current project and playing philosophy.

He also expressed his strong desire to contribute and support the team—currently sitting 2nd in the Norwegian First Division—in maintaining their positive momentum.

— “We are very happy to have landed Adebayo. We have been following him for a long time, and we look forward to working with him and developing him together with the rest of the team. He has shown great will and desire to come here to Kristiansand, and he will fit the way we play,” says Azar.

Meanwhile, Sporting Director Mick Priest revealed that significant effort had gone into securing Adebayo.

He mentioned a close collaboration with Jamestown to carefully evaluate the recruitment, ensuring that only high-standard additions were made to the squad.

Priest further praised Adebayo’s goalscoring ability, expressing confidence that under Azar and the coaching staff, the Nigerian forward will continue to develop and flourish at IK Start.

— “I’m truly happy to be here and can’t wait to get started. It’s an honour to join such a historic club, and I’m ready to give everything to help the team achieve its goals,” Adebayo wrote on his socials.

He also thanked his agency, Majestic Management, for their support and acknowledged Spero Player Agency for facilitating the move.

In addition, he appreciated the Start management for trusting him and giving him the opportunity, adding that he’s eager to begin work.

He expressed deep gratitude to everyone at Tammeka, where he spent three unforgettable seasons.

In his farewell message, he reflected on the honour of representing the club, the joy of scoring goals, his personal growth, and the sense of community he felt.

While preparing to settle into life in Kristiansand and integrate with Start, Adebayo stated that the memories made in Tartu would always remain with him.

Even as he moves on, he emphasised that Tammeka still holds a special place in his heart and wished the club success, hoping their paths may cross again in the future.
