In the Serie A showdown over the weekend, Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman put out an impressive performance and capped it off with an assist as Atalanta succumbed to a narrow defeat against Cagliari.
Despite providing the opening goal of the encounter, the Nigerian winger watched his team fall to a 2-1 defeat at the Sardegna Arena on Sunday, Footballrover reports.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international set up Gianluca Scamacca for the opening goal, and it was barely 13 minutes into the encounter.
It was Lookman’s fourth assist in 24 league games for Atlanta this campaign, and he has already registered over eight goals as well.
His 90-minute action also saw him win an impressive 13 duels. Unfortunately for the Super Eagles winger, his efforts weren’t enough to save his team.
Tommaso Augelio equalised for Cagliari just three minutes before the interval, and Nicolas Viola got the winning goal just before the final whistle to snatch all three points for the home team.
Atalanta have now lost back-to-back games after previously losing to Fiorentina, and are currently in sixth place in the league table with 50 points, twenty more ahead of their hosts in 13th place.
