Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is back on the scoresheet, netting a crucial goal to inspire Celtic FC to a hard-earned 2-1 away victory over Dundee FC in the Scottish Premiership.
Iheanacho came off the bench to deliver the match-winning strike late in the game, as Celtic returned to winning ways after their defeat to Dundee United in their previous outing at Dens Park, Footballrover reports
Kelechi Iheanacho ends drought with match-winning impact
The Nigerian international was introduced in the 58th minute, replacing Tomas Cvancara, and it took him just 24 minutes to make a decisive impact in the round 32 clash.
The 29-year-old forward has now registered his third league goal of the season. His previous strike came on October 5, 2025, in Celtic’s 3-2 win over Motherwell FC.
Since then, he had gone 12 games without scoring, ending a 182-day (six-month) drought to finally rediscover his scoring touch.
Celtic closed the gap on the Scottish Premiership leaders after a dramatic late winner from Iheanacho secured victory at Dundee FC.
Celtic started strongly, taking an early lead through Yang Hyun-Jun, but missed several chances to extend their advantage.
Dundee equalised in the second half after Simon Murray converted a penalty following a VAR decision.
As the game neared its end, Iheanacho came off the bench to fire home the winner. Dundee later went down to 10 men, while Celtic moved closer to the top following Hearts’ earlier slip.
Sadiq provides spark but Valencia fall short
In Spanish La Liga, Umar Sadiq provided an assist in Valencia CF’s 3-2 home defeat to Celta Vigo at the Mestalla Stadium on Sunday.
Sadiq started the game on the bench, with head coach Carlos Corberán opting for other attacking options.
The Nigeria international was introduced in the 63rd minute, replacing Hugo Duro as Valencia pushed for a result.
The former Rangers FC striker made an impact late on, setting up Guido Rodríguez for Valencia’s second goal deep into stoppage time.
Sadiq has now recorded one goal and one assist in 11 league appearances for the Black and Whites.
He completed a permanent move from Real Sociedad in January, having spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at the club.
