Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu has started life in the Turkish Super Lig with a bang once again, opening his goal account for Trabzonspor as they battled to a narrow home victory over Kocaelispor during their opening fixture of the 2025/26 campaign.

Paul Onuachu Strikes Early to Lead Trabzonspor in Turkish Super Lig Opener

The 31-year-old forward scored the opening goal of the encounter to help home team edge past their visitors 1-0 at the Papara Park on Monday evening, Footballrover reports.

While Onuachu stole the spotlight, his compatriot Anthony Nwakaeme was also part of the game, leading the team to their first three points of the season before being substituted for Arif Bosluk in the 84th minute.

Onuachu found the back of the net just four minutes into the second period after the first half ended goalless.

A corner kick was cleared by Kocaelispor’s goalkeeper into the path of Mustafa Eskihellac, who delivered the rebound straight to Onuachu.

The Nigerian striker wasted no time in powering a header into the net.

Onuachu’s Return to Super Lig Sparks Big Impact

Recall that in his 40 appearances for Southampton, the Nigerian forward could only register four goals and one assist.

However, during his first stint with the Black Sea Storm, Onuachu delivered 21 goal contributions in 25 games — 17 goals and four assists.

Now, on his return to back to the Turkish side, the towering forward has wasted no time in showing what a huge impact he can make, scoring in their Turkish Super Lig season opener.

The Nigeria international saw 77 minutes of action before being replaced by Felipe Augusto, but his team held on to snatch the win.
