Southampton have snapped up the services of Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo from Rangers, according to the Premier League side, who confirmed the deal today on their twitter page.
The Nigerian international, who joined Glasgow from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2019, had one year left on his contract before moving to Southampton on a four-year deal. He declined a new deal from the Ibrox team.
The 25-year-old has previously been linked to Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest, but Southampton was able to close the deal for $10 million plus add-ons.
In 57 games for Rangers last season, the Super Eagles man netted nine goals with 10 assists to his name, one of which came in the Europa League final.
Joe Aribo also put in a stunning performance for Rangers last season, and it’s not so surprising that he was one of the team’s most often used players.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst benefited from his adaptability as the manager was forced to face a lot of injury problems in the squad.
Aribo, who played attacking midfield, central midfield, right midfield, ended up finishing the 2021/22 season up front.
With his move to the Premier League side, only defender John Souttar has been recruited to the Ibrox team list so far this summer, and strikers Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are also close to the end of their present contracts.
“It’s an amazing club with a lot of history here, and it’s a good plan with what’s to come next. I’m really excited for the journey. The Premier League is the best league in the world. I’ve been watching it since I was a young boy, it’s always been a goal for me to play here and show what I can do on this stage. It’s an amazing feeling, a dream come true. This is where I’ve wanted to be since I was a child growing up playing, so to say that I’m here now is really exciting.” – Aribo told the club website
