Super Eagles goalkeeper Victor Sochima has officially signed a two-year deal with Zesco United, marking a bold new chapter in his career.

The 26-year-old, nicknamed Odogwu, arrives in Zambia after a remarkable run in South Sudan, where he won both the league and cup with Jamus FC, Footballrover reports.

Victor Sochima Brings Experience to Zesco United

Zesco United confirmed the signing with excitement, describing Sochima as a proven performer with the qualities needed to strengthen their squad.

The Nigerian shot-stopper joins as a direct replacement for Toaster Nsabata, who departed for South African side Sekhukhune United after his contract expired.

Sochima’s arrival is seen as a major boost ahead of Zesco’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign, with the Ndola giants set to face Gabon’s FC 105 in the preliminary round.

From Nigeria to Zambia: A Goalkeeper on the Rise

Before moving to Zambia, Sochima had built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s finest goalkeepers.

While at Rivers United, he set the NPFL record for most clean sheets (16) in the 2021/2022 season.

His performances earned him a spot in the NPFL Team of the Season, a Goalkeeper of the Year nomination, and call-ups to the Super Eagles, where he made four senior appearances — including the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea.

Nicknamed “SochiBig16”, he has also played for Tabora United in Tanzania, showing his ability to adapt and excel across African leagues.

His move to Zesco United is widely seen as a step up, both for his career and the club’s ambitions.

With his strong shot-stopping, composure, and leadership at the back, Sochima is expected to become a key figure in Ndola.
