Super Eagles star Victor Okoh Boniface featured for his side Bayer Leverkusen as they continued their tradition of dramatic late victories in the Bundesliga, securing a thrilling 3-2 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Super Eagles star Victor Boniface played a crucial role in the comeback, contributing to the team’s attacking efforts, Footballrover reports.

Florian Wirtz doubled the advantage before the break, but Mönchengladbach fought back with goals from Nico Elvedi and Tim Kleindienst to level the score.

Boniface, a key figure in Leverkusen’s attacking lineup, was instrumental in creating chances throughout the match.
Despite not directly scoring, his presence and contributions were vital for the team.
The 23-year-old, who was part of the starting lineup, was withdrawn 8 minutes before regulation time as he was replaced by Amine Adli.
Although he featured for 82 minutes, the Nigerian international was able to register over five shots on goal.
Nathan Tella, his Nigerian teammate, was benched after starting the DFL Super Cup match against VfB Stuttgart.
In the dying moments of the match, Leverkusen was awarded a penalty after a foul on Amine Adli.
Wirtz stepped up and converted the spot-kick, sealing the victory for Alonso’s side.

With this win, Leverkusen kickoff their Bundesliga title defence on a good note and will look to carry their momentum into their upcoming DFB Pokal match against Carl Zeiss Jena.
Speaking in the Press Conference about the last minute goals, Xabi Alonso had this to say,
“It’s difficult to explain how it happens. it’s something we don’t train for, we can’t do that. it’s just the mentality from the team. They always have the feeling.”
