After grabbing the Man of the Match award against Zambia in their opening game of the U-17 AFCON, Golden Eaglets defender Yahaya Lawali has done it yet again vs. Morocco.
The admirable defender scooped the Man of the Match award for the second time in a row as the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria failed to find the back of the net against their Moroccan counterparts.
The Eaglets put up a great fight, but unfortunately it ended in a narrow defeat in Constantine, Algeria.
The Nigerian youngsters were hoping to build on their early success when they faced the Moroccan team in the second game of the group stage but lost 1-0 after the final whistle.
A goal from Abdel Hamid Maali just a few minutes into the clash was all Morocco needed to advance to the 2023 Total Energies AFCON U-17 knockout stages.
They held the Nigerian side off their defense as the ticket to the quarterfinals was sealed for them.

Shortly after the closely contested match, Yahaya Lawali was named Man of the Match.
Nigeria still ranks second in their group, though they await the result of South Africa vs. Zambia in the other match.
All hope is not lost for the Nigerian team, which is aiming to lift the U-17 AFCON title for the third time.
The Golden Eaglets will now focus their attention on the next game against South Africa, a must-win encounter to book a spot in the next round.
