Besiktas have confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi sustained a hamstring injury following detailed medical examinations, dealing a fresh setback to the midfielder after a tense derby clash against Fenerbahce.
The Nigeria international was forced off in the 85th minute of Sunday’s encounter after showing signs of discomfort, raising immediate concerns among the coaching staff, Footballrover reports

Further tests carried out at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital confirmed a strain in the hamstring, with reports also indicating bleeding in the biceps femoris muscle.
The club stated that treatment has already begun under the supervision of their medical team.
“Our football player Wilfred Ndidi, who was unable to continue playing in the 85th minute of our A Team’s Trendyol Super League match against Fenerbahçe due to pain in his hamstring, underwent an MRI at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital.
The scan revealed a strain and bleeding in his hamstring (biceps femoris). Treatment for Wilfred Ndidi has been initiated by our medical team.”
The timing of the Wilfred Ndidi injury adds to the disappointment of a difficult outing for Besiktas, who suffered a 1-0 defeat.
The match was decided late on when Kerem Akturkoglu converted a controversial penalty deep into stoppage time.
Ndidi suspension compounds Besiktas midfield concerns
Beyond the injury, Ndidi is also set to miss the club’s next fixture due to suspension. The defensive midfielder received his fourth yellow card of the season in the 52nd minute, automatically ruling him out of the upcoming clash with Antalyaspor.
The booking adds to previous cautions picked up against Eyupspor, Kocaelispor, and Kasimpasa, further compounding the team’s selection concerns in midfield.
Since arriving from Leicester City last summer, Ndidi has been a consistent presence for Besiktas.
He has made 26 appearances across the Turkish Super Lig, UEFA Conference League qualifiers, and the Turkish Cup, contributing two goals.
The current situation leaves Besiktas without one of their key midfield anchors at a crucial stage of the season, with both injury and suspension limiting Ndidi’s immediate availability.
