Bayer Leverkusen, one of Germany’s top-flight football clubs, has successfully secured the signing of talented Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, from Belgian team Royale Union SG.
The 22-year-old goal-scoring sensation has committed to a five-year contract that will see him don the number 22 jersey at the BayArena outfit until June 30, 2028.
Victor Boniface’s remarkable journey to the Bundesliga began with a standout season at Fotballklubben Bodø/Glimt, where he made a significant impact, especially in the Europa League.
Under the guidance of coach Karel Geraerts, Boniface emerged as the joint-leading scorer, propelling Royale Union SG to continue their fairytale run in the competition.
Having been directly involved in an impressive tally of 34 goals (22 goals and 12 assists) in 55 appearances across his stints with Bodo/Glimt and Royale Union, Boniface swiftly caught the attention of top European clubs.
Among the suitors was Everton, a reputable English Premier League side that expressed a keen interest in the young striker.

However, despite Everton being touted as the frontrunners for his signature, Victor Boniface made the surprising decision to sign with Bayer Leverkusen.
The German club, led by former football legend Xabi Alonso, has been embarking on an ambitious project aimed at establishing themselves as one of Europe’s football powerhouses.
This vision, coupled with Leverkusen’s brilliant team and top-notch facilities, convinced Boniface that it was the perfect opportunity for his career growth.
In an official statement following the signing, Boniface shared his excitement about joining Bayer Leverkusen, expressing his admiration for the club’s atmosphere and potential.
“A special opportunity I definitely wanted to take up. I’ve already experienced the atmosphere here at the stadium and back then was able to assess the possibilities at this club. After our talks now know: This is a top club with a brilliant team. I’m really looking forward to playing football here and want to play my part in the future success of Bayer 04.”
The young striker is set to make a significant impact in the Bundesliga.
