The scoring prowess of Victor Osimhen unexpectedly came to an end when Lazio snatched a 1-0 league victory over Napoli on Friday night at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.
Lazio moved up to third position in the Serie A table courtesy of a sensational goal by Vecino that stunned league leaders – Napoli.
The Uruguayan international came close to scoring just five minutes into the clash before finally breaking the deadlock.
Before Lazio surprisingly made a breakthrough, Lobotka, Anguissa, Zielinski, and Osimhen all missed their respective targets.
Vecino scored from the edge of the box after Kvaratskhelia’s header landed to him when the ball couldn’t be cleared away.
With only 11 minutes remaining, the hosts had a chance to tie the score, but Provedel and the bar stopped them.
Osimhen missed a close-range header that should have gone in the back of the net, and Min-Jae’s rebound attempt was stopped by the goalie who dived to stop it.
As they visit Atalanta in Serie A up next, the Nigerian international and his Napoli teammates will be hoping to rekindle their winning ways.

Meanwhile, Napoli still maintain their spot at the top of the league with 17 points, its only their second defeat of the season and Victor Osimhen is just one goal away from hitting 20 goal tally.
The focus of Lazio shifts to the Europa Conference League, where they will prepare for their upcoming match against AZ Alkmaar.
