Victor Osimhen’s rising stock in Europe has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Premier League side Manchester United.
However, a stark warning from a respected Turkish journalist suggests that the Super Eagles forward could be making a costly mistake if he decides to join the Premier League giants, Footballrover reports.
Could Osimhen’s dream move turn into a nightmare?
Serhat Ulureren doubts Osimhen’s fit for Manchester United
The renowned Turkish football journalist has publicly advised the Nigerian international against signing for the Red Devils.
Despite Osimhen’s impressive run at Galatasaray—scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in just 17 matches—Ulureren found space to question his true value.
Napoli has reportedly set a €75 million release clause for Osimhen, but Ulureren believes the Nigerian star isn’t worth even €50–60 million.
Ulureren further criticised Osimhen’s overall impact, comparing him unfavourably to Galatasaray’s injured star Mauro Icardi.
While acknowledging Osimhen’s ability to pressure defences and create space, he argued that these traits do not justify his hefty price tag.
Ulureren boldly claimed that if Osimhen were to join Manchester United, he would struggle to meet expectations and could face huge embarrassment in the Premier League.
“Victor Osimhen is overrated in my opinion. He is never a €50-60 million striker. He is a good centre forward but not a good striker,” the journalist said as quoted by habersarikirmizi.
Adding that,
“Osimhen cannot meet Galatasaray’s needs as much as Mauro Icardi. He wears down the opposition defence, creates confusion, creates space for his teammates, but he is not a player worth that money. Let him go to the Premier League and play for Manchester United; he will be disgraced.”
Transfer speculations grow despite harsh criticism
Despite Ulureren’s harsh remarks, Victor Osimhen continues to attract serious interest from Europe’s elite clubs.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring the striker ahead of the summer transfer window.
Osimhen’s consistent goal-scoring form makes him a hot commodity, but doubts about his ability to thrive at Old Trafford persist.
With pressure mounting and a hefty release clause in place, Osimhen faces a critical career decision.
Will he silence his critics as usual or risk proving them right by making a move that could backfire?
His next step could either elevate him to football stardom or lead to the downfall critics are predicting.
