After a promising start, Arsenal collapsed in the first half, conceding a penalty, had a player sent off, and falling behind 2-0 in the space of 15 minutes.

Spurs were in full command of the encounter after Rob Holding’s red card and Harry Kane’s brace in a tense North London derby.

The Gunners had the better start, but Spurs managed to build momentum and took the lead in 22nd minute with a Kane penalty.

Cedric shoved Son over a Kulusevski cross, and referee Tierney immediately signalled to the spot.

33 minutes on the clock, Holding earned a second yellow card for pulling down Son as the Korean attacker attempted to chase down a long Dier through ball.

Tottenham then extended their lead four minutes later when Bentancur poked on a Son corner towards the back post.

Just two minutes into the second half, Son lashed into the far corner to make it 3-0 for Spurs and secure a crucial win for the Antonio Conte side.

 

The Gunners could have won a spot in next season’s Champions League with a win and after 2-0 down, they needed a remarkable comeback with ten men but couldn’t even escape with a point.

The victory and three points puts Tottenham just a point behind the Gunners with two games remaining.

As they aim to keep the pressure on Arsenal, they will host Burnley next before closing with an away encounter at bottom Norwich.

For the Gunners, the setback means missing out on the opportunity to secure a spot in the Champions League for next season,

The Mikel Arteta side now face a challenging trip to Newcastle before facing Everton on the last day as they attempt to finish in the top four for the first time since the 2015/16 season.
