Victor Moses made a notable impact for Luton Town by scoring his first goal of the season, but his efforts were not enough to save his team from a heavy defeat against Plymouth in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Nigerian winger’s goal came late in the game, overshadowed by Luton’s struggles as they slumped to a 3-1 loss away from home, Footballrover reports.

Moses scores first goal for Luton Town

Moses, who joined Luton Town on a free transfer after leaving Spartak Moscow, showed glimpses of his quality after being introduced as a substitute in the 59th minute.

Replacing injured Denmark international Mads Andersen, Moses wasted no time making his mark, finding the back of the net just 12 minutes later with a well-taken strike.

However, by the time Moses scored, Luton were already chasing the game, with Plymouth firmly in control.

Tijani Muhammed shines with assist as Luton struggles

The match at Home Park saw Plymouth assert dominance early on, with Rami Al Hajj giving them the lead just eight minutes into the game.

Luton struggled to find a foothold, and their frustrations deepened in the second half when substitute Ibrahim Cissoko doubled Plymouth’s advantage with a powerful finish.

Moses responded almost immediately with his goal to make it 2-1, but any hopes of a Luton comeback were quickly dashed.

Cissoko struck again, scoring his second of the match after being set up by fellow Nigerian Tijani Muhammed, who had come off the bench in the final stages of the game.

Muhammed’s assist capped off Plymouth’s impressive performance, as they sealed a commanding 3-1 victory.

The defeat drops Luton Town to 16th place in the standings with just seven points from their opening fixtures.

Despite Moses’ bright moments since joining the squad, including his debut in a win against Sheffield Wednesday, Luton have struggled to find consistency.

They will now regroup and prepare for their next fixture against Oxford United, hoping to bounce back and climb the table.

For Moses, his first goal for the Hatters is a positive sign of things to come, but both he and his team will be eager to turn these individual flashes of brilliance into winning results on the pitch.
