The newly appointed head coach of Libya, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has revealed a 28-man squad to take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header.
Al-Hadiri, stepping into the role after the dismissal of Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic, has wasted no time assembling a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars for the upcoming clashes.
The Mediterranean Knights are set to face Nigeria in Uyo at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, October 11, before welcoming the Super Eagles to Benina just four days later for the return leg, Footballrover reports.
Libya’s struggles in the AFCON qualification campaign
Libya’s squad, featuring key players like goalkeeper Murad Al-Wahishi and midfield maestro Faisal Al-Badri, will be eager to turn their recent fortunes around after a tough run in the qualifiers.

Libya’s qualification campaign has been far from ideal.
They were held to a 1-1 draw by Rwanda last month before falling 2-1 to Benin, putting immense pressure on the squad to secure vital points against the giants of Africa.
Al-Hadiri, however, remains optimistic, hoping that the fresh energy from new inclusions will help reverse their luck on the pitch.
Super Eagles look to continue unbeaten run
On the other side, the Super Eagles, brimming with confidence after a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin Republic and a goalless draw with Rwanda, will look to continue their unbeaten streak.
With home-field advantage in the first leg, Nigeria will be determined to claim three points and inch closer to AFCON qualification.
Libya’s squad is a blend of domestic league standouts and a few players from overseas, including Ahmed Al-Masmari, who plies his trade at Barcelona B in Spain.
With a tall task ahead, Libya will need to pull off a near-perfect performance to stand a chance against the three-time African champions.
While Nigeria is favoured to come out on top, Libya’s squad selection shows they’re not going down without a fight.
