A year after joining Union Berlin for £6.5 million from Liverpool, Awoniyi departs the club. He also spent the past season on loan at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.
Union made a profit of £11 million on the 24-year-old after Forest agreed to pay up to £17.5 million for him. He scored 15 goals in 31 games for Union in the Bundesliga last season.
“Take good care of him! Good luck back in the EPL” – Union Berlin replied Nottingham on their Twitter page.

Additionally, Liverpool will receive £1.75 million extra thanks to a 10% sell-on clause they negotiated when he switched teams.
Without accounting for any loan fees paid by FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Royal Excel Mouscron, KAA Gent, Mainz, and Union, it takes their profit on the Super Eagles star signed for just £400,000 from the Imperial Soccer Academy to £7.85 million.
No player scored more goals for Union Berlin during Awoniyi’s two years in the club with 25 goals overall in 65 appearances for the German side, along with nine assists.
A fifth-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Europa League for the first time since 2001–02 were also made possible by his 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga games for Union Berlin.
After spending his whole time at Liverpool without being granted a UK work permit, he will finally make his Premier League debut this year.
Jurgen Klopp admits to be a huge fan of the rising star striker, although Darwin Nunez arrived in an £85 million deal this summer, therefore, there was no need for a return for the Nigerian.
