Man United manager, Ruben Amorim, has sent a stark message to his players: to win the Premier League, they must run “like mad dogs.”
Since replacing Erik ten Hag in the November international break, Amorim has faced the tough task of turning around a team struggling to meet expectations, Footballrover reports.
With just one win under his belt—a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford—Amorim continues to manage the team’s progress cautiously.
He is determined to instill a sense of urgency and work ethic among the squad, emphasising that hard work is just as crucial as tactical refinement.
Amorim’s demands: Hard work key for Premier League glory
Amorim stressed that while Manchester United remains a massive club, they are not yet a massive team.
For them to compete for the Premier League title, he insists that every player must be willing to give everything—fighting and sprinting in both directions.
This approach, he says, must come before any tactical changes can be considered.
“If you want to win, we have to do it. Even with the best starting XI on the planet, without running, they will not win anything; that is very clear. If we want to win the Premier League, we have to run like mad dogs. If not, we are not going to.”
“We are a massive club but not a massive team, and we know it. It’s not a problem to say it,” Ruben Amorim said as quoted by Independent UK.
With a packed December schedule ahead, including a crucial home game against Nottingham Forest, Amorim’s demands for effort will be tested in the coming weeks.
