Tochi Chukwuani joins Rangers with valuable experience at a young age, having featured in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

His most recent campaign with Sturm Graz was particularly impressive, as he made 27 appearances, scored three goals, and helped the club secure the Austrian Bundesliga title.

That season also marked his first taste of Champions League football, adding to a European education that has shaped his game.

Chukwuani believes those high-level matches have improved his awareness, confidence, and decision-making in midfield.

From early promise to Rangers opportunity

Chukwuani’s rise began early. He started training with FC Nordsjælland’s first team at just 14 and made his senior debut as a 16-year-old.

Less than a year later, he became the club’s youngest-ever league goalscorer, proving his potential further.

In 2022, he joined Lyngby, where he went on to make 58 appearances over two seasons, scoring five goals.

A proposed move to Serie A side Hellas Verona fell through following a medical issue, but Chukwuani responded positively, continuing to develop and gain regular first-team football.

His move to Sturm Graz in the summer of 2024 proved decisive. Playing abroad for the first time, he adapted quickly and became part of a title-winning side, further boosting his reputation as a reliable and versatile midfielder.

I’m super excited. I finally got the green light to come here. Rangers are a huge club and I can’t wait to hear the roar at Ibrox.

It’s a historic club with a huge fanbase. There are huge expectations, and this is something as a footballer you want to play infront of.

It gives motivation every weekend to go and give 100% and do what you can to put smiles on people’s faces,” he said.

Chukwuani added that hearing about former stars like Paul Gascoigne and Brian Laudrup only reinforced his desire to succeed at Ibrox.

On the pitch, he sees himself as an all-round midfielder rather than being tied to one position.

Comfortable as a No.6, No.8, or No.10, Chukwuani prides himself on being strong, physical, and technically sound, with a willingness to tackle, regain possession, and play forward football.

Familiar faces and a winning mindset

Despite being new to Rangers, Chukwuani will not be starting completely from scratch.

He is familiar with Oliver Antman and Mohamed Diomande from his time at FC Nordsjælland, and he believes those connections will help him settle quickly.

He also revealed that facing Rangers in the Europa League recently gave him a clear sense of the club’s size and intensity.

That experience, combined with daily standards learnt during a title-winning season at Sturm Graz, has shaped a mindset he now hopes to bring to Scotland.

Chukwuani says winning the league in Austria taught him what it truly takes to succeed, from preparation and training habits to performing under pressure in front of demanding fans.

As he begins his Rangers journeyRangers journey, his focus is clear: apply those lessons, give everything each weekend, and help the team push for success.
