Taiwo Lawal Braces for Impact in Liga MX Femenil

Lawal struck twice in just eight minutes, securing a 3-1 away win for her side. The result marks a crucial return to winning ways for Mazatlán following their 2-0 home defeat to Monterrey in their previous outing.

This performance marks the second time the 22-year-old Nigerian forward has scored a brace this season, having previously found the net twice against FC Juárez on January 7.

With this latest double, Lawal has now taken her impressive season tally to seven goals in 12 matches.

It was a tough night at the office for Club León as Mazatlán FC cruised to a commanding victory on the road.

The visitors brought the heat early and didn’t let up until the final whistle, leaving the home fans searching for answers.

Mazatlán wasted no time making their intentions clear. Abígail López found the back of the net just 10 minutes in, silencing the home crowd and giving the visitors a crucial early lead.

If the first half belonged to López, the second belonged entirely to Taiwo Lawal. The forward was clinical, bagging a brace with goals in the 48th and 56th minutes.

Clinical Finishing Secures Massive Three Points

Her quick-fire double effectively put the game out of reach before the hour mark.

León kept fighting until the end, finally finding a breakthrough in the 96th minute via Alexia Villanueva.

It was a clinical finish, but unfortunately, it was far too little, too late, to spark a comeback.

Mazatlán heads home with a massive three points and plenty of momentum, while León will be looking to tighten up that defence before their next outing.

That victory moves them to 9th place with 18 points, having won five games from 12 matches, lost four and drawn three as they look ahead to their next fixture against Cruz Azul on Saturday.
