Olisa Ndah, a key figure in the Super Eagles defence, may be sidelined for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.
The Super Eagles are preparing to host Libya’s Mediterranean Knights on Friday, October 11, in a critical matchday three clash, followed by an away fixture in Benina just four days later, Footballrover reports.
However, there are concerns that the 26-year-old Bucs star could be absent for both games due to a recent injury.
Injury woes after stellar performance
Ndah was in exceptional form during Orlando Pirates’ dominant 3-0 win over Polokwane City, where he not only helped secure a clean sheet but also earned the prestigious Man of the Match award.
But then, his joy was short-lived, as he picked up an injury after that game. As a result, he was notably missing from the Buccaneers’ narrow 1-0 win over Richards Bay in their next fixture.
Orlando Pirates head coach, Jose Riveiro, confirmed that the Nigerian defender is nursing an injury sustained in the Polokwane City match.
“In our last game against Polokwane City both Olisa Ndah and Monnapule Saleng were subbed because of different injuries that’s the reason they were not playing (against Richards Bay),” Riveiro told journalists.
He added that Ndah’s availability for the club’s upcoming MTN8 final against Stellenbosch remains uncertain.
“Actually we’re not 100% sure that they are going to be at the final (against Stellenbosch),” he said.
Super Eagles’ squad in limbo
With Ndah’s condition in doubt, Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen is preparing to announce his squad for the crucial qualifiers.

Ndah’s absence could deal a significant blow to Nigeria’s defence as they look to solidify their position in the 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
Fans will be hoping the star defender can recover in time, but for now, the prospect of him missing the double header looms large.
