The 25-year-old striker expressed his deep admiration for Ighalo’s time in the Premier League, describing the former Manchester United forward as a major influence on his career, Footballrover reports.

Several strikers have inspired me, most probably Odion Ighalo, who shone in the Premier League. I really love that,” Olatunji said.

From Champions League glory to Super Eagles ambitions

Olatunji has been turning heads with his outstanding performances, particularly after a sensational debut in the UEFA Champions League.

In his first appearance in Europe’s elite competition, the Nigerian not only found the back of the net but also set up a crucial assist, becoming the first Nigerian player to do so on his Champions League debut.

Despite his success, the talented striker has yet to be called up by the Nigerian national team, though he remains optimistic about earning a Super Eagles cap in the near future.

When asked about representing Nigeria, Olatunji couldn’t hide his excitement. He explained how wearing the green jersey and the eagle crest is a dream for every young Nigerian footballer.

It’s a huge honor to represent over 220 million people, and that kind of responsibility pushes you to give your best,” he said.

While no formal approach has been made by the national team, Olatunji is confident his performances will eventually catch the eyes of the Super Eagles selectors.

A celebration inspired by Ronaldo and love for amala

Beyond Ighalo, another football icon has left a lasting impression on Olatunji—Cristiano Ronaldo.

Known for emulating Ronaldo’s famous goal celebration, Olatunji explained that this gesture is his way of paying tribute to the Portuguese legend.

He admires Ronaldo’s relentless work ethic and incredible achievements, especially in the Champions League.

Interestingly, despite never meeting Ronaldo in person, Olatunji feels connected to the football icon through his celebratory nod to the star’s glory days.

It’s my way of honoring Ronaldo’s legacy in the Champions League,” he explained.

Off the pitch, Olatunji is a man of simple pleasures.

He enjoys listening to gospel music and indulging in Nigerian dishes like amala, a favorite meal from his Yoruba heritage.

With six goals in 15 matches for Sparta Prague this season, the Nigerian striker is not just making waves on the field but also carving out a unique identity for himself off it.
